El film narra las luchas de la clase obrera argentina desde principios del siglo XX hasta el 17 de octubre de 1945, en la perspectiva de los trabajadores de la carne de Berisso, protagonistas principalísimos de esa jornada. Combina imágenes y material de archivo, una trama de ficción y el testimonio de los ancianos sobrevivientes de la gesta.
